The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has successfully obtained a court ruling that mandates the forfeiture of assets worth Sh426.85 million from Felix Mecha Nyakundi, the former Principal Land Registrar of Kilifi, his spouse Stellah Nyaboke Otwori, and associated companies.
In a ruling delivered by Justice Benjamin Mwikya Musyoki on September 18, 2026, the High Court determined that numerous funds and assets involved in the case were unexplained under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act.
The court's decision includes the forfeiture of funds that were processed through the defendants’ bank and mobile money accounts, specifically those linked to both Felix Nyakundi and his wife.
Additionally, the ruling requires the surrender of various parcels of land located in Kilifi, Nairobi, Mombasa, and Lamu, along with properties registered under The Bantu Hotel and Resort Company Limited.
Moreover, three vehicles registered to Stellah Nyaboke Otwori were also classified as unexplained assets and are to be forfeited to the government via the EACC.
The court has also instructed that the defendants are to jointly and severally cover the legal costs incurred by the Commission.
