Gor Mahia extended their perfect start to the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 at Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday, October 28, with former Homeboyz winger David Okoth scoring the decisive goal.

Okoth struck in the 67th minute to hand the record league champions their fourth consecutive victory and maintain their position at the top of the standings, while Homeboyz suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

The winger punished his former club after a competitive encounter in which both sides created opportunities but struggled to find a breakthrough. His second-half finish ultimately separated the teams and secured all three points for the visitors.

Gor entered the fixture looking to preserve their winning run after collecting maximum points from their opening three matches. Homeboyz, meanwhile, were seeking a second victory of the campaign that would have reduced the gap between the sides to two points.

The visitors started with attacking intent, with Musa Shariff testing goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala in the sixth minute after receiving a pass from Daniel Sakari. Wanzala responded with a save before denying Alpha Onyango four minutes later following another promising Gor attack.

Homeboyz also threatened through Ibrahim Joshua and Glen Otunga as the hosts sought to exploit openings in the visitors’ defence. However, neither side could break the deadlock before the interval despite several attempts at goal.

Gor returned from the break with renewed urgency, and Enoch Machaka came close to scoring two minutes after the restart when his attempted delivery struck the inside of the post before bouncing out.

Homeboyz remained dangerous, with Otunga forcing Humphrey Katasi into a full-stretch save, but Gor eventually found the breakthrough through Okoth.

The decisive move began when Stanley recovered possession and released substitute Jackson Dwang, who advanced before switching play to the left flank. Okoth collected the ball, drove into the penalty area and unleashed a powerful left-footed strike into the roof of the net, leaving Wanzala with no chance.

The goal proved decisive despite a late push from Homeboyz. Clem Imbayi forced Katasi to punch away a difficult effort for a corner, while Charles Momanyi headed wide from a set piece delivered by former Gor Mahia player Boniface Omondi six minutes from time.

In the other midweek early kick-off, Posta Rangers and Bandari played out a goalless draw in Mombasa, with neither side finding a breakthrough to claim all three points.

The stalemate saw both sides settle for a share of the points, while Gor Mahia maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a fourth consecutive victory.

Gor held on to secure all three points and preserve their clean sheet in the encounter, strengthening their early position in the title race as they continued to collect maximum points.

For Homeboyz, the defeat left them on four points, although they retained a game in hand. The Kakamega side will seek to recover from their first setback of the season, while Gor Mahia will look to extend their winning run in their next league fixture.
