A driver has died on the spot after a sand-laden lorry overturned near Cifika along the Kabarnet–Showground road leading to Kabarnet Airstrip.
The lorry is reported to have experienced mechanical problems for a prolonged period, with suspected brake failure believed to have contributed to the accident.
The turnboy, who was also on board, sustained a broken leg and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police officers who responded to the scene reportedly had to use a hearse to transport the deceased's body after a police vehicle was said to be unavailable.
A county ambulance later arrived at the scene, but the deceased's body and the injured occupant had already been taken away.
Police from Kabarnet Police Post have launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident.
Residents have been urged to exercise caution when using the steep and winding road, particularly in areas prone to accidents.
