International building-materials company ABC Group entered Kenya on November 1, 2026, with the opening of ABC Hauz on Mombasa Road in Nairobi, launching its 18th showroom in East Africa to serve residential and commercial construction markets.
The company said its Kenyan entry marks a new investment commitment in building materials, renovation and home improvement. The showroom will offer products for construction, interior design and renovation, including finishing materials.
The expansion comes as Kenya’s construction sector returns to growth. The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics’ Economic Survey 2026 reported that the sector expanded by 6.8% in 2025, reversing a 0.7% contraction in 2024. The recovery was supported by renewed infrastructure activity, road construction, increased residential building and stronger demand for construction materials.
ABC Group is entering a market facing a significant housing supply gap. Estimates cited during the launch put Kenya’s annual housing deficit at about 244,000 units, compared with fewer than 50,000 units supplied each year, putting pressure on home availability and affordability.
Mohammad Rijaz, Executive Director of ABC Group, said Kenya offered opportunities for businesses prepared to build lasting customer relationships. He added that investors needed a predictable operating environment to plan and deliver value to customers, shareholders and the wider economy.
The company has partnered with the Architectural Association of Kenya to host the Build Hub, a co-working space for built-environment professionals, including young graduates and independent practitioners. The facility will provide space for design work, client meetings and collaboration, while improving access to information on materials and design solutions.
ABC Group Founder and Managing Director Muhammed Madani said the company was considering further investment, including possible local manufacturing of furniture, doors and windows. The group is exploring local design, manufacturing and assembly capabilities over the next two years, although the plans remain under consideration.
The launch also introduced Finch, a rewards app for trade professionals such as artisans and plumbers, alongside an e-commerce platform to extend product access beyond the showroom. The company’s next steps include developing its Kenyan experience centre and assessing whether local manufacturing can form part of its longer-term investment plans.
