At least 11 people have been killed and three others injured after gunmen opened fire at a residential property in KwaMakhutha township, south of Durban, in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province.
According to local media reports, the shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, when unidentified assailants stormed the home where the victims had gathered and opened fire.
Ten victims died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries while being transported to hospital. A pregnant woman was reportedly among those killed.
The attackers are said to have set fire to a vehicle belonging to the homeowner before fleeing the scene.
The motive for the attack remains unknown, while authorities have yet to announce any arrests or identify the suspects.
