Kenyan Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi finished third in the men’s 800 metres at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest.
Wanyonyi clocked 1:42.44 to take the bronze medal.
Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati won the race, while Canada’s Marco Arop finished second.
Wanyonyi, the reigning Olympic champion, was among the favourites heading into the race but could not match Sedjati and Arop in the final.
Sedjati took the win as Arop settled for second, with Wanyonyi completing the podium.
The Kenyan continues his strong run in the 800 metres after a season that has seen him compete against some of the world’s best athletes.
