World 1,500m silver medallist Dorcus Ewoi will face compatriot Susan Ejore at the Kalakaua Merrie Mile in Honolulu, Hawaii, on December 12, with the Kenyan pair among the athletes confirmed for the international road-mile race.

Ewoi will make her debut at the event after winning both road-mile races she has contested, while Ejore returns for her fourth appearance following a third-place finish in last year’s edition.

The race will provide Ewoi with an opportunity to extend her winning run on the roads as she takes on a competitor who has steadily improved her results at the Hawaiian meeting.

Ewoi made her road-mile debut at the Boston Mile in 2025, winning in 4:42.57. She defended her title on April 18, 2026, clocking 4:29.73 to maintain her unbeaten record in the discipline.

The Kenyan has also enjoyed a strong season on the track, highlighted by her silver medal in the women’s 1,500m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships. She recorded a personal best of 3:54.72 over the distance in Brussels on September 5, 2026, further underlining her credentials ahead of the December contest.

Ejore, meanwhile, brings valuable experience of the Kalakaua Merrie Mile, having finished fourth in 2023 and fifth in 2024 before improving to third last year.

She clocked 4:26.47 in the 2025 edition, finishing behind American Sinclaire Johnson, who won in a course-record 4:21.66, and Nikki Hiltz, who placed second in 4:24.50.

The Kenyan will be seeking to build on that podium finish when she returns to Honolulu, although she faces competition from an international field that includes several established middle-distance runners.

Ejore’s most recent road-mile outing was at the New Balance Fifth Avenue Mile in New York on September 13, where she finished sixth in 4:20.2.

American Addy Wiley, the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships 800m bronze medallist, is also among the leading names in the women’s field. Australia’s Abbey Caldwell and Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka are other notable entrants.

The Kalakaua Merrie Mile is part of the 53rd JAL Honolulu Marathon weekend and will be held for the 10th time in 2026. The World Athletics Label road race is scheduled for December 12, a day before the Honolulu Marathon.

With Ewoi seeking to preserve her perfect road-mile record and Ejore aiming to improve on her previous finish, the meeting will offer both Kenyans an opportunity to test themselves against an international field as the athletics season draws to a close.
