Two men have been killed by an angry mob in Stendikisa, Chavakali Ward, Vihiga County, following claims that they had stolen from a shop.
The two men are alleged to have stolen from a bookshop before fleeing towards Stendikisa.
They were reportedly rounded up after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a vehicle, causing them to fall.
A third person, a woman who was travelling with them on the motorcycle, survived after reportedly claiming that she was merely a passenger.
Acting Chavakali Chief Patrick Ajega confirmed the incident, saying investigations had been launched.
The bodies of the two men were removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary at Vihiga County Referral Hospital.
