Several motorists travelling into and out of Kisumu have been stranded at Ahero in Nyando Sub-County after a tractor ferrying sugarcane overturned at the Ahero Bridge along the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway.
The accident has caused a heavy traffic snarl-up on the busy highway, with motorists caught in long queues as efforts are made to clear the overturned tractor from the road.
Authorities and other response teams are currently working to tow the tractor and restore normal traffic flow along the affected section.
Motorists using the Kisumu-Nairobi Highway have been urged to exercise patience and, where possible, seek alternative routes as the recovery operation continues.
