Police in Machakos County have arrested three suspects believed to be linked to a series of robberies in the area, recovering ten mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.

The operation started along Quarry Road, where officers arrested the first suspect in connection with a robbery reported along Beijing Road.

During the incident, a mobile phone and KSh10,000 were reportedly stolen.

Following the arrest, officers searched the suspect’s residence and recovered a machete, a grey combat jacket and motorcycle number plates suspected to be linked to the criminal activities.

The National Police Service said the suspect later led officers to two other men believed to be his accomplices, bringing the number of arrests to three.

Among those arrested is a suspect believed to have been receiving stolen mobile phones.

Police did not provide further details about the alleged role of each suspect in the reported robberies.

Officers also conducted a search at a residence in the Embala area of Mlolongo, where they recovered ten assorted mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.

The arrests and recovery of the items form part of an operation targeting suspected criminal activity in Machakos County.

The three suspects are currently being held in police custody as investigations continue.

They are expected to be arraigned in court to face the relevant charges.

The National Police Service said it would continue carrying out intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks, recovering stolen property and bringing those suspected of committing offences before the courts.

The service also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting residents and addressing robbery cases through continued police operations.

The recovered items are expected to support investigations into the reported incidents as officers work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.

The National Police Service also advised people to report any cases of criminal activities in the area in order to help end the criminal cases in the county
