Seven men have been arrested for allegedly obstructing police officers during the arrest of a suspected goon mobiliser at Homa Bay Bus Stage.
The seven were apprehended after they allegedly attempted to interfere with officers executing an arrest warrant against Kassim Abdi Sebo, who was wanted in connection with an earlier case.
Police tracked down and arrested Sebo at the bus stage following a warrant issued by the Homa Bay Law Courts on August 14, 2026.
However, the operation took a turn when the seven men accompanying him allegedly attempted to obstruct the officers, prompting police to arrest them.
The suspects have been identified as Achiando Victor Odhiambo, Isaac Masika Muliro, alias Waigo, Oyeke Geoffrey Moses, Geoffrey Nchore, Odhiambo Wesley Arnold, alias Mwas, Joseph Kabira and Alfred Nyagino.
The eight suspects, including Sebo, remain in custody as police process them ahead of their arraignment in court.
The arrests come amid heightened police efforts to apprehend individuals wanted in connection with criminal activities and ensure officers can execute lawful arrest warrants without interference.
In August, the National Police Service (NPS) directed Sebu to report to the DCI's Homa Bay County headquarters to assist with investigations into the violence.
In a statement at the time, the police service said investigations had linked him to the unrest witnessed during the Linda Mwananchi tour on August 16, 2026.
The violence prompted a security crackdown in Homa Bay and neighbouring areas, with police arresting 37 suspected gang members found in possession of crude weapons over the weekend.
According to the Police Service, 12 suspects in Homa Bay had taken plea and were released on various bond terms, while two others were being investigated over gun-related incidents.
In Kisumu, a total of fifteen suspects who were arrested with crude weapons on the eve of a rally were also presented in court.
The latest arrests comes as detectives continue investigating the incidents surrounding the political tour and the damage reported in Homa Bay Town.
Sebu's alleged role in the incidents remains subject to investigation, and the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have not announced the outcome of the ongoing inquiries.
Meanwhile, the suspects will remain in police custody as investigations continue.
