Property worth millions of shillings has been destroyed after a dawn fire razed a dormitory at Hill Secondary School in Eldoret on Tuesday.
The fire broke out while students were in morning preps, sending the school community into a panic as efforts were made to contain the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, as witnesses were unable to determine what triggered it.
The blaze destroyed property in the dormitory, with the extent of the damage yet to be fully established.
Police are expected to launch investigations to determine the cause of the fire and establish the total value of the property destroyed.
The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) responded to the fire incident, which affected the dormitory housing some 340 Form 3 and 4 students.
"The fire has since been contained, and no injuries were reported, as all students were in morning preps at the time. Psychosocial support is being provided to affected students, alongside a rapid needs assessment to establish the extent of damage and inform the appropriate course of action," Kenya Red Cross said.
