ODM Supporters Gather in Kisumu for Mwezi wa Baba Candlelight Ceremony

ODM party supporters and diehards of the late party leader Raila Odinga have gathered at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Sports Ground in Kisumu ahead of a candlelight ceremony to commemorate his death.

Dozens of supporters, including local leaders, have turned up to join the country in marking the month-long celebrations in honour of the late Odinga.

Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron said the candlelighting ceremony will begin at 6pm as supporters join others across the country in launching the Mwezi wa Baba programme.

Oron said the event will also provide an opportunity to popularise the ODM party and call for unity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking to Ramogi, the MP urged supporters who will not make it to the sports ground to light candles wherever they are across the seven constituencies in Kisumu County.

The Kisumu event is among several candlelight ceremonies planned by ODM across the country under the Mwezi wa Baba programme.

In Nairobi, the main ceremony is scheduled for 3pm at Uhuru Park grounds, while other events will be held in counties including Mombasa, Narok, Nakuru, Kakamega, Busia, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Wajir, Garissa and Nyamira.
