Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has criticised the government and the electoral commission over what he described as the involvement of foreign nationals in Kenya’s elections.
Speaking to religious leaders in Boston, Massachusetts, Gachagua said his party would not allow foreign citizens to vote in Kenya in violation of the law.
He said they were prepared to defend the democratic rights of Kenyan voters and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
Gachagua also promised to fight corruption if elected president in next year’s election, saying corruption had contributed to what he described as unequal opportunities in investment.
He further raised concerns over the tax burden facing Kenyans, saying many households were struggling under the rising cost of taxes.
The DCP leader also pledged to tackle the sale and consumption of illicit alcohol, which he said had become a major challenge for many families.
Gachagua is expected to continue taking his campaign message to Kenyans at home and in the diaspora as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.
