Police in Mombasa County have apprehended four individuals suspected of being involved in a violent robbery that occurred in Likoni on Friday night. The suspects, among them two juveniles aged 17, were taken into custody on Sunday, 2 August, at approximately 0005hrs. The other two suspects have been identified as Mabruki Hamadi Hassan, aged 25, and Rama Salim, aged 30, according to a police report. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into the robbery with violence that left two victims seriously injured.

The incident in question involved an attack on 50-year-old Shadrack Mweru and 28-year-old Anyango Auma. Mweru suffered severe injuries, including a cut to his left hand, while Ms. Auma had her left thumb severed and sustained head injuries. Mweru was assaulted outside his home while on a phone call, highlighting the brazen nature of the attack. Ms. Auma was attacked while returning home after purchasing supper, underscoring the vulnerability of residents to such violent crimes.

The suspects are currently assisting police with their investigations, as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the attack. Mombasa County Investigation Officer Antony Murithi, speaking at a media briefing at the Likoni Police Station, issued a stern warning to other criminals who remain at large. He urged them to surrender to the authorities before the law catches up with them.

During the press briefing, attended by Likoni DCC Francis Kazungu, Mombasa County Criminal Investigation Officer Antony Muriithi, Likoni Police OCPD Jane Munywoki, and Likoni DCIO Richard Koywer, Murithi emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating crime. He called on residents of Mombasa to provide information on any criminal activities to security agents, stating that community involvement is crucial in eradicating criminal elements from society.

The arrests come amid growing concerns over the rising cases of violent crime in the region, with residents increasingly worried about their safety. The police have assured the public that they are committed to restoring order and ensuring the safety of all citizens. The investigation into the Likoni robbery continues, with authorities determined to bring all perpetrators to justice.
