Five people have been killed by armed gunmen in Gotu area, North Isiolo, Isiolo County, today.
The deceased include two Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) police officers, one National Police Reservist (NPR) officer and two civilians.
The officers, including a reservist, and one civilian had gone to retrieve the body of a man who was killed by the herders on Tuesday.
According to Isiolo County Police Commander Isaac Sang, a shortage of pasture is increasingly fuelling insecurity in the county.
Sang has urged residents to remain calm as security officers intensify a search for the suspects.
