The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a public appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of a man suspected of involvement in multiple robbery with violence incidents in Nairobi and neighbouring areas.
In a notice, the DCI identified the suspect as John Masila Nzioka, whom detectives are pursuing over several robbery with violence cases reported within the Nairobi Region and its environs.
According to the investigative agency, the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to have used a firearm while carrying out the alleged criminal activities.
The DCI further revealed that the suspect recently engaged police officers in a shootout, during which some officers sustained injuries before he managed to escape.
The incident prompted renewed efforts by security agencies to track down the suspect and bring him before the law to answer to the allegations against him.
The agency has now appealed to members of the public, particularly those who may have information regarding his whereabouts, to assist detectives with information that could facilitate his arrest.
The DCI has also provided details of the suspect's reported home area, indicating that he comes from Kikambuani Sub-Location, Kanzalu Location, Kanzalu Division, Kangundo Sub-County, Machakos County.
Members of the public who may have encountered the suspect or possess information that could assist investigators have been urged to share it through the agency's established reporting channels.
The DCI has encouraged Kenyans to use its #FichuaKwaDCI initiative, which allows members of the public to anonymously report information on suspected criminal activities.
Information can be shared through the DCI's toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.
Alternatively, members of the public can report information at the nearest police station or contact the National Police Service through emergency hotlines 999, 911 or 112.
The agency has emphasised the importance of public cooperation in supporting ongoing investigations and helping law enforcement officers apprehend individuals wanted in connection with serious criminal offences.
Anyone with information has been urged to avoid approaching or confronting the suspect, given the warning that he may be armed and dangerous, and instead notify the relevant authorities.
