Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has signed a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay at the Emirates until June 2030 after guiding the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 years.
Arsenal confirmed the agreement on Wednesday, October 7, saying the new deal reflects the club’s ambition to build on last season’s success and establish a sustained period of competing for major trophies.
Arteta, who was appointed head coach in December 2019 before becoming the club’s manager, has overseen 361 matches in all competitions. His 62.05 per cent win rate is the highest recorded by any full-time manager in Arsenal’s history.
The Spaniard became Arsenal’s seventh title-winning manager last season as the club secured its 14th English top-flight championship. It was their fourth Premier League title and ended a 22-year wait for the competition’s trophy.
Arteta said he was proud to commit his future to Arsenal and credited the club’s supporters and leadership for their continued trust and support.
“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” Arteta said.
He added that Arsenal’s recent achievements represented only the beginning of what the club could accomplish during what he described as a special period in its 140-year history.
Arsenal co-chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke said Arteta understood the club’s values and remained committed to building on the progress made since his return to the club in 2019.
“It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited for what lies ahead in this special relationship,” the Kroenkes said.
Chief executive Richard Garlick said the club wants to create a winning era with Arteta and continue pursuing its long-term ambitions.
Arteta will now remain in charge through June 2030, while members of his coaching staff have also renewed their contracts for the same period.
The new agreement is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
Arsenal will now look to build on their Premier League triumph as Arteta begins the next phase of his tenure with the club targeting further major honours.
