Visa Secures China Approval After 40-Year Pursuit
Visa has received approval from China’s central bank to begin preparations for establishing a domestic bank card clearing business, marking a major step towards entering the country’s domestic payments market after more than 40 years of engagement. The approval, announced on October 13, 2026, by the US payments company, allows it to begin formal preparations but does not mean domestic operations can start immediately.
