Veteran Kenyan actor and comedian Hiram Mungai Ngigi, popularly known as Ondiek Nyuka Kwota, is celebrating a proud family milestone after his son, Ian Mungai Wangechi, graduated from Kirinyaga University College on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The actor shared the joyful news in a celebratory message, expressing pride in his son's achievement and wishing him success as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.

In his message, Ngigi congratulated Ian on his graduation, praising his hard work, dedication and perseverance, which had brought him to the milestone.

"Good Morning, Friends! It gives me immense joy and pride to share the wonderful news that my beloved son, Ian Mungai Wangechi, graduated on Friday, 9th October 2026, at Kirinyaga University College," he wrote.

The veteran entertainer also offered prayers for his son's future, asking God to guide his steps, open doors of opportunity and grant him wisdom and success in his future endeavours.

"As your parent, I am incredibly proud of you. May this graduation mark the beginning of greater victories and countless blessings in your life," he added.

Ngigi further encouraged his son to approach the future with confidence, describing the graduation as the beginning of greater achievements and urging friends and well-wishers to join the family in celebrating Ian's accomplishment.

He accompanied his message with a biblical verse from Proverbs 16:3, which reads: "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."

The graduation celebration offers a glimpse into the family life of the actor, who has entertained Kenyan audiences for years through his work in television comedy.

Ngigi is widely recognised for his long-running role as Ondiek Nyuka Kwota in the popular Kenyan courtroom comedy series Vioja Mahakamani, which aired on KBC.

His portrayal of a loud, wealthy villager associated with Bondo in Siaya County became a memorable feature of the programme, earning him recognition among viewers who followed the show's courtroom antics and colourful characters.

The actor also became known for his convincing performance and mastery of a stereotypical Luo accent, leading some viewers to associate him with the Nyanza region, although he is reported to be from Central Kenya.

Through his distinctive character and comic delivery, Ngigi established himself as one of the familiar faces in Kenyan television entertainment.

As Ian begins a new chapter following his university graduation, his father's public message reflects the pride many parents feel when their children complete an important stage of their education.

The family is now celebrating the milestone, with the veteran actor calling on friends and supporters to congratulate his son and wish him God's abundant blessings as he pursues his future ambitions.

"Congratulations, Son! The future is bright, and the best is yet to come!" Ngigi wrote.
