Two young boys have been found dead in River Kathita in Marimanti Ward, Tharaka Nithi County.
According to Area Assistant Chief Peter Muriuki, the boys went missing on Wednesday afternoon before their bodies were later discovered in the river.
Police officers responded to the incident and retrieved the bodies, which were taken to the mortuary at Marimanti Level Four Hospital.
Assistant Chief Muriuki has urged residents, particularly parents and students at Tharaka University who have recently reported to the institution, to avoid River Kathita.
He warned that the river can be dangerous during the dry season and has previously claimed lives.
Residents have echoed the warning, urging people to stay away from River Kathita during the dry season.
