Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced that the Linda Mwananchi movement will hold its next public rally in Kwale County on Saturday, October 31, as it seeks to expand its political mobilisation along the Coast and across the country.
In a post on X on October 21, Sifuna said the movement would continue reaching different parts of Kenya, describing the planned tour as an effort to unite citizens across regional boundaries.
“From the Mountain to the Sea…. @LindaMwananchi_ will go to every corner of the Country. We are one people! Save the date Kwale,” Sifuna wrote.
A poster accompanying his announcement confirms October 31 as the date for the Kwale tour, although the specific venue and programme for the gathering were not indicated in the material shared.
The planned rally marks another phase in the movement’s efforts to establish a presence beyond Nairobi, where it held a major public gathering at Jacaranda Grounds in September.
The latest announcement comes as political leaders and emerging formations begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kwale is not an entirely new destination for Sifuna’s mobilisation efforts. On September 25, the senator concluded a Coast tour during which he met interim office officials, sub-county and ward representatives, and political aspirants from Kwale and Kilifi counties.
During those engagements, Sifuna acknowledged that he had not managed to meet everyone who wanted to interact with him, saying the team would return.
The October 31 gathering will provide another opportunity for the movement to engage local leaders and residents as it seeks to build its support base in the region. The extent of its local support, however, remains to be established.
Linda Mwananchi has held public engagements in several parts of the country, including Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Kisumu, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia and Meru, as part of its wider mobilisation efforts.
The movement has also featured prominently in political discussions surrounding the direction of the opposition ahead of the next general election. Its activities have included public rallies, meetings with local political figures and efforts to develop organisational structures in different counties.
The planned Kwale tour comes amid continuing political realignments within the opposition, particularly over the relationship between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and President William Ruto’s administration.
Sifuna and leaders associated with Linda Mwananchi have been pushing for a political approach centred on accountability and the concerns of ordinary citizens, while political groups continue to debate possible alliances and strategies ahead of the 2027 polls.
In Kwale, the movement will be seeking to build on its earlier engagements with local officials and aspirants as it attempts to extend its reach along the Coast.
The rally will also offer an opportunity for the group to communicate its agenda directly to residents and demonstrate how far its mobilisation efforts have extended beyond its established areas of activity.
Sifuna’s message that the movement intends to reach every corner of the country signals an ambition to build a nationwide presence.
