Police in Kisii County are investigating a fatal road accident involving a motorcycle and a crossover SUV at Geteri Bodaboda Stage, where a rider died after being rushed to hospital.

The accident reportedly occurred when the SUV, which was heading towards the Nyamataro route, collided with an oncoming motorcycle. According to initial reports, the vehicle, which bore an “L” sticker, allegedly swerved from its lane before hitting the motorcycle.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear, with police expected to establish what caused the SUV to leave its lane and collide with the rider.

Following the impact, the motorcyclist was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) for treatment. However, despite being taken to the facility, the rider succumbed to the injuries upon arrival.

The rider’s injuries reportedly appeared minor immediately after the crash, making the subsequent death a concern. However, the initial appearance of injuries does not necessarily indicate the full extent of trauma sustained during an accident.

There are concerns that the rider may have suffered internal bleeding following the collision. This has not been confirmed, and the exact cause of death remains unknown pending further medical clarification.

The incident has highlighted the importance of establishing the full circumstances of road crashes, particularly where the injuries sustained at the scene may not immediately appear life-threatening.

Investigators will need to determine the movements of the SUV and motorcycle before the collision, including whether the reported swerving contributed to the crash. Establishing the sequence of events will be essential in clarifying how the two vehicles came into contact.

Details about the identity of the deceased rider, the SUV driver and any action that may be taken against those involved were not immediately available.

Police investigations are ongoing, and further information is expected once the circumstances surrounding the collision have been established. Until then, the reported cause of the crash and the suspected internal bleeding remain unconfirmed.
