Paris Saint-Germain defeated Barcelona 4-2 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, October 20, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to secure a third consecutive victory in the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz scored for the defending champions, while Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal replied for Barcelona.

The victory gave Luis Enrique’s side nine points from their opening three matches, while Barcelona remained on six points after suffering their first defeat of the 2026/27 campaign.

PSG’s win also extended their unbeaten run in European competition to 13 matches, strengthening their position among the early contenders for qualification to the knockout stages.

PSG started aggressively, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hitting the woodwork during the opening stages. Ousmane Dembélé and Doué also tested Barcelona’s defence as the hosts looked to exploit spaces in the visitors’ backline. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García produced important saves to keep his side in contention, while Matvey Safonov was called upon to deal with opportunities at the other end.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Doué finished from outside the penalty area to put PSG ahead. The goal rewarded the hosts’ attacking pressure after they had threatened repeatedly during the first half.

Barcelona responded after the break, with Espart equalising in the 55th minute. The defender advanced through the PSG defence before finishing past Safonov, bringing the visitors back into the contest and giving them renewed hope of extending their winning start to the competition.

PSG regained the advantage in the 72nd minute when Hernández headed home from a corner delivered by Doué. The French side appeared to have restored control, but Barcelona again found a response.

Yamal scored in the 79th minute after an individual run from the right, finishing from a tight angle to make it 2-2. His goal briefly put Barcelona back on level terms, setting up a tense finish at the Parc des Princes.

PSG, however, responded almost immediately. Vitinha struck in the 81st minute with a shot from outside the penalty area to restore the hosts’ lead. Ruiz then sealed the victory in the 86th minute, finishing from close range after Achraf Hakimi delivered the ball across the penalty area.

The match statistics highlighted PSG’s attacking effectiveness. PSG registered 22 shots, including 15 on target, compared with Barcelona’s 18 attempts and five shots on target. Barcelona enjoyed 53 per cent possession against PSG’s 47 per cent, but the hosts were more productive with their opportunities.

The result also continued PSG’s strong recent record against Barcelona in European competition. Before the match, the clubs had met 16 times in UEFA competitions, recording six victories apiece and four draws, with both sides having scored 29 goals. PSG’s latest victory shifted the balance further in the French club’s favour.

For Barcelona, the defeat exposed defensive weaknesses despite their ability to recover twice from a goal behind. Flick’s side scored twice away from home but could not prevent PSG from finding the net four times, including twice in the closing stages.

PSG will return to Champions League action on Tuesday, November 3, when they travel to face Villarreal in their fourth league-phase fixture. Barcelona will also play that day, hosting Aston Villa as they attempt to recover from their first European defeat of the campaign.
