Police have arrested two suspects and seized more than 25 kilograms of cannabis in separate anti-narcotics operations in Kiambu and Bungoma counties.
The National Police Service said the arrests were made during an ongoing crackdown on illicit drugs and brews, with officers recovering cannabis and other items believed to be linked to drug use or distribution.
In Kiambu County, officers from Juja Police Station intercepted a motor vehicle during an operation in Juja Town, specifically in the KK Towers area.
The vehicle, registration number KDV 137V, was searched, leading to the recovery of approximately 20 kilograms of cannabis sativa. The driver was arrested and taken into custody, while the seized substance was secured as an exhibit as investigations continued.
In a separate incident in Bungoma County, police officers acted on information provided by a member of the public and raided a rental residence at Kamukuywa Market in Kimilili Sub-County.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of bhang stored in two green sacks and a blue basin. Officers also recovered four packets of rolling papers and a rolling stick.
The suspect found at the residence was arrested and taken to Bungoma Police Station for processing ahead of arraignment in court.
The National Police Service did not provide further details about the identities of the two suspects or indicate whether the recovered drugs were connected to a wider trafficking network.
Police thanked members of the public whose information helped officers carry out the operations, saying cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies remains important in efforts to combat the distribution of illegal drugs.
The service said operations targeting illicit drug networks would continue across the country as officers pursue those suspected of involvement in the trade.
Members of the public have also been urged to report information about suspected drug-related activities to the nearest police station or through emergency hotlines 999 and 911.
The public can additionally share information with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations through the toll-free #FichuaKwaDCI hotline on 0800 722 203 or WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.
The two suspects are expected to face the next stage of the legal process following police investigations and processing.
