Police in Suna East Sub-County, Migori County, have arrested a man suspected of killing and burying his wife in a shallow grave in Ngege Location.
The suspect, identified as Erick Omondi Odongo, is accused of killing his wife, Evelyne Odongo.
Migori County Police Commander Edward Imbwanga said the suspect is in police custody and will be arraigned once investigations are complete.
Police were alerted after members of the public discovered a fresh grave a few metres from the suspect’s home and reported the matter to the area chief.
According to Imbwanga, the body was exhumed and found with multiple injuries, including deep cuts believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.
Police also found blood stains inside the deceased’s house, suggesting that she may have been killed there before her body was moved and buried.
The police report indicates that the couple was last seen quarrelling on September 25, 2026, at around 4pm, before Evelyne went missing.
The two had reportedly been married for about one month.
