Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has survived a road accident after the vehicle he was travelling in was hit from behind by a speeding pickup.
Gisairo said the accident happened on his way to Nairobi from his constituency.
According to the MP, the pickup, an Isuzu D-Max registration KDX 961T, lost control and rolled onto the roadside after hitting his vehicle.
His driver managed to bring their vehicle to a stop despite losing the rear right tyre.
Gisairo said they helped the two occupants of the pickup, who were later taken away in a government vehicle.
He claimed the two were removed from the scene before traffic police could complete the required procedures.
The MP said he had reported the matter to the relevant authorities, who are now investigating the incident.
He added that the Ministry of Interior had identified the two people who were in the pickup, as well as the ministry officers who allegedly took them away from the scene.
Gisairo said he expected the matter to be addressed and any officers found to have broken the law to face disciplinary action.
The MP confirmed that he and those travelling with him were safe, although they suffered muscle pulls from the impact.
