Kenya Railways Corporation has warned job seekers against a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media, cautioning the public against applying for vacancies advertised using the corporation’s name.

In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, October 21, the corporation said the advert was fraudulent and urged applicants to verify recruitment announcements through its official website.

“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing rounds on various social media platforms,” Kenya Railways said.

“We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website: krc.co.ke .”

The warning comes as a poster titled “Job Opportunity 2026” circulates online, claiming to announce a nationwide recruitment drive under the corporation’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan.

The poster lists dozens of job categories and hundreds of purported vacancies, with October 28, 2026, given as the application deadline. It directs applicants to send their applications to kenyarailwaysjobs@gmail.com, an address that does not use the corporation’s official domain.

The corporation has disowned the advertisement, meaning job seekers should not treat the listed positions or application instructions as genuine recruitment opportunities.

The advert lists positions including Sales and Marketing Manager, Passenger Services Manager, Manager Insurance Services, General Manager Finance, Graduate Trainee, Registered Nurse, Office Assistant, Electrician, Mechanical Technician, Driver, Receptionist, Cleaner and Data Entry Clerk.

It also advertises vacancies for Forklift Operators, Record Keepers, Clearance and Forwarding Officers, Load Controllers, CCTV Operators and Legal Services Managers, among other roles.

The poster presents the positions as part of efforts to strengthen Kenya Railways’ operations across the country. However, the corporation’s public warning contradicts the advert’s claim to represent an authentic recruitment exercise.

The use of a generic Gmail address for applications is another reason for job seekers to exercise caution, particularly when the organisation has directed applicants to verify vacancies through its official website.

Kenya Railways has previously warned the public about fraudulent recruitment notices circulated online.

In April 2026, the corporation reiterated that genuine vacancies are published through its official channels and that applications must be submitted through the official job link on its website.

The corporation has also clarified that it does not charge fees at any stage of recruitment, including applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments. Applicants should therefore be wary of anyone demanding money in exchange for a job opportunity or assistance with the recruitment process.

Kenya Railways maintains an official careers section on its website, where job seekers can check advertised positions and the relevant application requirements. Genuine opportunities should be verified there before applicants submit their personal information or supporting documents.

The latest warning comes a day after reports emerged of Kenya Railways recruiting for two general management positions, illustrating why applicants need to distinguish between genuine vacancies and fraudulent advertisements using the corporation’s name.

A separate recruitment notice published through the Government Advertising Agency in April 2026 also demonstrates that official vacancy announcements can be checked through recognised government platforms.

Job seekers are advised to avoid sending identity documents, academic certificates or other sensitive information to unverified contacts.

They should also avoid making payments to individuals claiming to facilitate employment and confirm any suspicious announcement directly through the organisation’s established communication channels.

Kenya Railways has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and use its official website to verify recruitment opportunities as the disputed advert continues circulating online.
