President William Ruto has rejected claims that his administration made excessive development promises that it has failed to fulfil, four years into his presidency.
Speaking during his tour of Kericho on Thursday, Ruto dismissed criticism from the opposition, saying his government had a clear plan from the outset and has been implementing it as intended.
Ruto said the progress made by his administration was visible across the country, insisting that the government had not overpromised to Kenyans.
“We never overpromised; we knew what we were doing. Our plan is solid, and our delivery can be seen. We have transformed Kenya in accordance with our plan,” Ruto said.
The President’s remarks come amid growing political debate over the performance of his administration as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
Ruto has maintained that his government’s development agenda is focused on improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans, expanding economic opportunities and delivering projects across the country.
The opposition has, however, continued to challenge the government over the pace of implementation of its campaign pledges and the rising cost of living, setting the stage for intensified political contestation ahead of the 2027 polls.
