A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after an Eldoret court found him guilty of defiling a 10-year-old boy.
David Zakayo Ahilo was convicted over an incident that occurred on September 19, 2025, in the Teleview area on the outskirts of Eldoret.
The court heard that Ahilo, a businessman, lured the boy into his house by giving him a 10-shilling snack before committing the offence.
Seven witnesses testified during the trial, providing evidence that led to his conviction.
In his plea for leniency, Ahilo asked the court for forgiveness and urged it to consider the period he had spent in remand.
However, Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Watima ruled that the evidence presented in court proved Ahilo's guilt.
Ahilo has 14 days to appeal the sentence.
