The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of Ben Shapaya, who is wanted over alleged fraud.

Shapaya, a resident of Isanjiro Village in Musingu, Kakamega County, was charged at the Kibera Chief Magistrates’ Court on June 10, 2025, with cheating contrary to Section 315 of the Penal Code.

The court later issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear for proceedings.

According to the DCI, Shapaya allegedly posed as a medical doctor based in Mombasa and used the identity to obtain money from unsuspecting victims.

He is accused of claiming that he could facilitate the importation of vehicles from Japan.

The DCI is urging anyone with information that may help locate Shapaya to report to the nearest police station or contact the investigations agency.

The public is advised to share any credible information that could assist investigators in locating and bringing the suspect before the court.
