A passenger on an Israel-bound Flydubai flight filmed himself calling for help after the captain was allegedly stabbed by the co-pilot in an incident that prompted the aircraft to divert to Saudi Arabia.
The passenger recorded the video as the plane headed towards Tabuk, saying those on board had managed to restrain the alleged attacker.
“We’re here during the hijacking of an airplane. At this point we’ve subdued the terrorists, we’re approaching landing and whoever is hearing me, we need help,” he said.
The passenger had blood running down his forehead as he spoke and said most of those on board were safe, but the pilot had been injured.
Another passenger later recorded a message to his family, saying the injured pilot was being taken to hospital and that his clothes had been covered in blood during the incident.
Channel 12 reported that an official described the incident as one pilot stabbing another and allegedly attempting to carry out a September 11-style attack.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack and how the incident unfolded during the flight.
The aircraft landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where the injured pilot received medical attention.
