Civil society groups in Kakamega County are calling on security agencies in Malava Constituency to investigate and arrest a man accused of defiling his 12-year-old daughter in Shipalo village.
Human rights activists led by Boaz Mukaramoja say authorities, including the police and children’s services department, were informed about the alleged incident but have yet to take action against the suspect.
The activists say they are concerned about the child’s safety, noting that the suspect remains at large and continues to interact with other members of the community.
However, Kabras East Sub-County Police Commander Peter Maluki says he has not received a report concerning the alleged incident.
Maluki maintains that the area children’s officer should formally present the case to the police before investigations can begin and action taken against the suspect.
Meanwhile, Malava Children’s Officer Lavenda Busungu insists that she has already reported the matter to the Officer Commanding Station at Kabras East Police Station.
The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the handling of the case, as activists continue to demand urgent intervention to protect the child.
The public now awaits to see whether the authorities will take action and ensure justice for the 12-year-old girl, who is allegedly a victim of sexual abuse by her father.
On October 10, 2026, Western Kenya Times reported that a 12-year-old girl in Mlimani, Lugari Constituency, had allegedly been sexually abused by a neighbour.
The report said the girl’s family had raised concerns over the incident.
In a separate case, the Officer Commanding Station at Lumakanda Police Station, Wycliffe Kwendo, was charged in court on allegations of defiling a 14-year-old girl.
On October 2, 2026, the court denied him bail following prosecution arguments that raised concerns about possible interference with witnesses.
He pleaded not guilty and remains presumed innocent unless convicted.
Earlier, on September 23, 2026, a Kakamega court sentenced a man to life imprisonment after convicting him of defiling a six-year-old girl.
The court also convicted him of assault causing actual bodily harm.
On August 7, 2026, another life sentence was reported involving a man from Kabras East who was convicted of defiling his two-year-old daughter.
The conviction followed the presentation of medical evidence and testimony by the prosecution.
